EDGE client, Jane Weaver of AYS Couriers travelled with 12 other women to the far reaches of East Asia to walk the Great Wall of China in support of Breast Cancer Care.

The Great Wall stretches from Shanhaiguan in the East to Lop Lake in the West, along an arc that roughly outlines the Southern edge of Inner Mongolia.
All 13 ladies walked a breath taking 77,592 steps and travelled an astonishing 67.4km, which is essentially from Birmingham City Centre to the middle of Stoke-on-Trent! They completed this extraordinary journey over 6 days and climbed as high as Mt Snowdon, approximately 1,100metres.

The lifetime risk of developing breast cancer ranges from 1 in 2000 for people up to 29 years of age to a far more alarming rate of 1 in 13 for those aged 69+. The overall lifetime rate suggests that 1 in 8 people in the UK will develop the disease.

Although this destructive disease is more common amongst females, it can also occur in males, and every year 370 men are diagnosed in the UK.

Jane and her team pulled together to accomplish this remarkable feat and raise awareness and funds to help beat Breast Cancer.
Please offer your admiration for their efforts and support the charity by donating whatever you can to Jane’s Just Giving page:

Well done Jane and to everyone who took on the Great Wall of China!
