App Design

In 2021, the UK’s average mobile phone usage was 4 hours per person, per day. In fact, in December 2021, the extremely popular short video sharing app, TikTok, surpassed Google as the most visited website of the year.

As such, it’s no surprise that having an app is often seen as a great selling point for your business, be it a web app or mobile app, and could be hugely beneficial for your customers. But building an app from the ground up is certainly no easy task, which is why you need marketing specialists to do it with you.

Our app developers use the most up to date app design software to bring your vision to life, ensuring your app is both functional and reflective of your business.

Why might an app be important for your business?

There are several reasons why your business might want to develop an app.

For some, an app might be a simple way to display important, real-time information to clients or customers. For others, an app might be their main method of communication, and they may need the functionality for everything from taking and making bookings to sending and receiving important messages.

If you do choose to make an app, you need to make sure that it not only functions correctly, but that it is branded and designed in accordance with the rest of your business, too.

HOW DO EDGE APPROACH APP DESIGN?

As marketing specialists, we ensure that your brand is expressed in everything your business produces, and your app is no exception. We will be in constant communication throughout the design process to ensure that you receive everything you want and more from your app. Our talented app designers will listen to your instruction and bring in their own expertise to make the most effective product possible.

How EDGE approach the app design process

  • 01

STEP ONE: UNDERSTAND THE APP REQUIREMENTS

The first and most important step in app design is fully understanding your vision. We will need to find out what you are offering, what information you are looking to take or give to your users, and how you wish to display it. We will also identify your primary calls to action and demographic to understand our main priorities when designing the app. The more information you can provide us with during this process, the more effective our app design will be.

  • 02

STEP TWO: FIGURE OUT YOUR MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT

The next step is to work out what your minimum viable product, or “MVP”, is. This is essentially the most barebones version of the app that you would be willing to publish: what features are absolutely essential, and which could be added in at a later time? We will use this to construct your initial app map and work out your user journey.

  • 03

    STEP THREE: CONSTRUCT A WIREFRAME

After working out what will be going to market, we will begin wireframing your app design. A wireframe is essentially the skeleton of your app, highlighting the essential features you wish to include and the main outcomes you want to achieve. This will give you a good idea of what the final app will look like without committing to a full design process.

  • 04

STEP FOUR: COMPLETE THE FINAL DESIGN

Once you have given your feedback on the wireframe, we will begin work on the final design. We will be in constant communication throughout the design process, making sure that your vision is reflected in the work we do, and that the app looks and feels exactly how you wanted.
