In homage of this unmistakeable artist we present our top ten facts of his life.

1. Born January 10th 1945, this star-to-be was named Roderick David Stewart, who would marry three times and father seven children
2. Signed to play soccer for Brentford Football Club before beginning his music career
3. Was nicknamed Rod the Mod in the 60’s
4. One of his earliest jobs was as a gravedigger
5. Rod’s first big-hit was Maggie May in 1971 which went straight to number one.
6. Rod then later went on to record Tonight’s the Night in ’76 and Da Ya Think I’m Sexy in ’78, which both hit number 1 in the charts.
7. In 1994 Rod Stewart was acknowledged as legend in the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame
8. Developed thyroid cancer, which is found in the neck, in 2000 and had to undergo several serious operations. He also had to learn how to sing again – what a hero.
9. Won a Grammy Award in 2005 for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album: Stardust: The Great American Songbook, Volume III
10. Rod was presented with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2005, later to receive Lifetime Achievement award by GQ in 2006 and earn the queens CBE award in 2007.

Following his sell out 2010 tour, Rod graces the stage once more with his ‘Live the Life’ tour. As one of Rock n’ Roll’s most celebrated artists it’s certainly an event not to be missed and guaranteed to be a show-stopping show.
